French Construction Firm NGE Secures First Moroccan Railway Contract

The NGE group, a major player in the construction industry in France, has just taken an important step in its international development. It has won its very first railway contract in Morocco, a market for the modernization of part of the rail network between Kénitra and Marrakech.
This project led by the National Office of Railways (ONCF) is part of the development of the Moroccan High Speed Line (LGV). It aims to adapt the existing infrastructure to accommodate the future LGV while increasing the capacity of the conventional lines.
NGE has obtained lot 3 of this site, which concerns a section located between Casablanca and Nouaceur. This section will serve the Mohammed V international airport in particular and will offer a connection with the future LGV.
The NGE teams, made up in particular of the subsidiaries TSO, TSO Caténaires and NGE Maroc, will be responsible for carrying out works: removal and laying of railway tracks, installation of overhead lines, earthworks, civil engineering, etc.
For Jean Bernadet, president of NGE, this contract represents a "real pride". It allows the group to "contribute to the economic dynamics of Morocco" while being part of a sustainable development approach. "Our strategic ambition is to build structures that meet the challenges of the ecological transition by developing low-carbon mobility infrastructures in particular," he said.
Present in Morocco since 1990, NGE initially focused its activities on road infrastructure. Over the years, the group has diversified its offer by positioning itself on earthworks, civil engineering, water treatment projects, etc. It has notably participated in the construction of the Tanger MED port viaduct and several wastewater treatment plants.
