Franco-Moroccan Mother Stranded in Rabat Pleads for Repatriation to France
Soad Arrad, a resident of Pithiviers, went to Morocco for three weeks with her parents and has been stuck in Rabat for two months, far from her children. The wait becomes endless for this Franco-Moroccan woman who does not know when her repatriation to France will be possible.
"We came in February, with my parents, to settle some administrative paperwork. We were supposed to be there for three weeks; it turned into three months. On March 18, we were told that our flight was canceled. Since mid-March, we have registered with the consulate. I call them all the time, but we have no news," writes Soad in a post published on Facebook on Thursday, May 21, in which she asks the deputy of Pithiverais, Marianne Dubois, for help.
The Pithiverian is tired of living far from her Pithiverian home, especially far from her two children, aged 7 and 12, reports La République du Centre. The latter remained in Pithiviers with their father, who is no longer able to work. "It’s starting to get really long. I can’t take it anymore, I’m saturated," she laments.
What comforts her a little is knowing that her sisters are taking care of her children. "Fortunately, there is WhatsApp. We exchange video calls every day. I also have my sisters in France who are taking care of them; I know they are in good hands," she consoles herself. Another positive note pleases the Pithiverian: "We are lucky to have a ’home’ here, but I think of others who have to pay both a rental here and in France..."
For now, "we are eagerly awaiting the moment when they will call us to offer us a flight," hopes Soad.
