France Issues Record 315,000 Visas to Moroccans Amid Processing Concerns

Criticized by Moroccans for the delays in issuing visas, the French Consulate has opened its doors to the media to ensure that the files are processed quickly and that the satisfied requests have even reached a record.

Yesterday, Thursday, June 27, 2019, the Consul of France in Rabat, Florence Caussé-Tissier, presented to the press the visa application procedure at the TLS Rabat center, the Company responsible for the French authorities for processing the files before their submission to the various consulates of the Kingdom. Thus, last year, there were some 400,000 applications filed by Moroccans and 315,000 accepted, or about 16% refused. This refusal rate is, on average, worldwide, explains the Consul.

For Florence Caussé-Tissier, the outsourcing of visa processing aims to respond to the strong demand, worldwide, and, at the same time, to absorb the growth in the number of files submitted. It also aims to ensure better reception for applicants whose number has almost doubled in the last five years.

For those wishing to travel to France, they are advised to make an appointment online as soon as possible, to prepare the file before depositing it in the TLS contact centers. The Consul says that, to meet an ever-increasing number of requests, a circulation visa is granted to people who travel frequently in Europe.

Furthermore, Florence Caussé-Tissier assures that the new system put in place, that is to say the externalization via a private company, in this case Teleperformances, allows a better fluidity to the old system.

It should also be noted that TLS contact handles most other European countries (Schengen Visa), as well as the United Kingdom.
