Fouzi Lekjaa announces the 2030 World Cup final in Casablanca, FIFA immediately denies it
Fouzi Lekjaa claims that the 2030 World Cup final will be played at the future Grand Stade Hassan II, near Casablanca. FIFA immediately pointed out that no decision had yet been made.
“Benslimane Province will have the honor of hosting the 2030 World Cup final.” Fouzi Lekjaa was categorical this Thursday, September 10, during a political event organized in Bouznika by the Authenticity and Modernity Party.
The president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation even expressed the wish for a final between Morocco and France “to take our revenge.” His statements, reported by Reuters, treat as settled a choice that FIFA has never officially announced.

Questioned immediately afterward, a spokesperson for the world governing body gave a very clear response to the Moroccan official’s remarks: “A decision will be made by FIFA in due time.” The location of the final therefore officially remains undetermined.
Casablanca and Madrid still in contention
Morocco is backing the candidacy of the Grand Stade Hassan II, currently under construction in Benslimane, about 60 kilometers from Casablanca. This venue, whose estimated cost is one billion dollars, is expected to accommodate 115,000 spectators and become the largest stadium in the world dedicated specifically to football.
Thanks to this project, Casablanca has gradually emerged as a credible contender to the Santiago-Bernabéu. Spain nevertheless continues to claim the final. The president of its federation, Rafael Louzán, had also stated in January that the World Cup’s final match would be played in his country, although no decision had been issued.
FIFA had already had to intervene in August after the publication of reports claiming that Gianni Infantino had promised the final to Morocco. It then described them as “false and misleading,” while reiterating that the award would take place at a later date.

The 2030 World Cup will be primarily organized by Morocco, Spain and Portugal, with three opening matches in Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay. FIFA has not yet finalized the complete list of host cities. Despite the assurance displayed by Fouzi Lekjaa, the standoff between Casablanca and Madrid therefore remains open.
