Former Raja Club Athletic President Awaits Extradition in Germany as Morocco Delays Request

Mohamed Boudrika, the former president of Raja Club Athletic, is still being held in Germany where he was arrested. The date of his extradition to Morocco is not known.
Contacted by the website Alyaoum24, the Hamburg prosecutor’s office said it had not received any extradition request for Mohamed Boudrika from the Moroccan authorities and that it would therefore be difficult to indicate a date for his extradition. The extradition procedure for Mohamed Boudrika could take time, the prosecutor’s office had confided to the same source.
The former president of Raja Club Athletic is enjoying his rights in Germany and is represented by a lawyer, the German prosecution said, which is waiting to receive the extradition request and necessary information from the Moroccan authorities. Under an international arrest warrant, Mohamed Boudrika was arrested at Hamburg airport on his way from Dubai.
According to the same source, Boudrika went to Germany to meet coach Josef Zinnbauer in order to convince him to renew his contract with Raja. The former president of Raja Club Athletic had left Morocco in January, after accompanying the "Eagles" team to the United Arab Emirates. During his stay, he had announced that he had suffered a heart attack and had subsequently undergone surgery in the United Kingdom.
In recent statements to the press, Boudrika said he was recovering and would return to Morocco after his recovery. The former club president had been sentenced last year by the Court of First Instance in Casablanca to four years’ suspended imprisonment and fines of more than ten million dirhams. The club management has appointed Adel Hala, Boudrika’s deputy, to act as interim president.
