Former Morocco Coach Reveals Key Strategy for World Cup Opener Against Croatia

Sunday 20 November 2022, by Sylvanus

Despite his dismissal, former coach Vahid Halilhodzic still has the success of Morocco’s participation in the 2022 Qatar World Cup at heart. He gives the key that can help the Atlas Lions win their first match against Croatia, scheduled for November 23.

"I have nothing bad to say about Morocco. [...] What I will say is that for Morocco to succeed in this match against Croatia, the key will be: discipline in the team’s work, behavior and discipline in the tactical tasks on the field," coach Vahid told the Croatian media Sport1.

The former coach of the Atlas Lions also commented on his dismissal. He seems to have a heavy heart about it. "[...] I won’t go back to this story either, I want to forget it as soon as possible," he said, adding that everything he did on the Moroccan bench was not enough to remain the coach of this national team.

"When we talk about it now, it’s obvious, but we had an average of at least three goals per game in the qualifiers, which was very effective," said the technician who qualified Morocco for the 2022 World Cup. "Consequently, everything that happened to me is a bit difficult to accept, you know, it’s difficult for me as a human being to accept."
