Former Morocco Coach Renard Offers Condolences, Praises Solidarity After Devastating Earthquake

Hervé Renard, former coach of the Atlas Lions and current coach of the French women’s national football team, joins in the emotion caused by the violent earthquake that occurred in Morocco on September 8, expresses his solidarity with the victims, and salutes the wave of solidarity of the Moroccans.
"A message to convey all my condolences to the victims and to show my support to all those who are devoting themselves to helping the people who have been affected by this earthquake in the village and in the regions of Marrakech. I know that a wave of solidarity has started and I have no doubt that it will last for a very long time, it is part of the characteristics of this Moroccan people to help each other and to have an exceptional hospitality," writes the former coach of the Moroccan national team in a post on social networks.
A week ago, an earthquake of magnitude 7, according to the Moroccan Center for Scientific and Technical Research (6.8 according to the American Geophysical Institute, USGS) struck Al-Haouz. The latest official toll from this earthquake, the strongest the kingdom has experienced since 1960, stands at 2,946 dead and 5,674 injured. At least 27 iconic monuments in the Marrakech region have been destroyed or damaged. According to Nacer Jabour, director of the National Institute of Geophysics (ING), there have been about a hundred aftershocks since the earthquake.
