Former Morocco Captain Benatia Fined for Violating COVID-19 Rules in Qatar

The former captain of the Atlas Lions, Medhi Benatia has been sanctioned by his club Al-Duhail in Qatar. He is accused of not respecting the health measures established to counter the coronavirus.
This serious breach of the rules laid down by his club has cost Medhi Benatia a small fortune. The former Moroccan international will have to pay the sum of 15,000 Qatari riyals (the equivalent of 40,000 dirhams) for his mistake, according to a statement from the Qatar Football Federation (QFA).
In addition to the former Juventus Turin player, his teammates Youssef Msakni and Luiz Martin also had to answer for their actions. As for the Algerian international Baghdad Bounedjah, he had to pay the sum of 10,000 riyals (about 26,000 dirhams).
A few months ago, the Moroccan international Amine Harit was also heavily sanctioned by his club Schalke 04 after being spotted at the beginning of the lockdown in Germany smoking a shisha in a bar. His evening was cut short by the police, who had arrived on the scene.
