Former Macron Aide Alexandre Benalla Released from Custody in May Day Violence Case

A week after being detained for not respecting his judicial supervision imposed as part of the investigation into the violence against demonstrators on May 1st, the former collaborator of French President Emmanuel Macron, Alexandre Benalla, has been released.
Yesterday, the indictment chamber of the Paris Court of Appeal ordered his release at the end of an "urgent freedom" procedure pleaded before the judge. His lawyer as well as that of Vincent Crase had decided to plead together in a collegiate formation.
"Happy" and "relieved", Benalla simply declared on his way out of the Santé prison, in front of a horde of journalists and photographers.
Many in France today are questioning Benalla’s detention, he who has never evaded a summons from the justice system and has no criminal record. In addition, the man had undergone two police custody and is now the subject of very thorough investigations by six investigating judges.
