Former French PM Borne Vacations in Marrakech Following Resignation

After her forced resignation and her replacement by Gabriel Attal, the former French Prime Minister, Élisabeth Borne flew to Marrakech where she is having a good time, away from political tensions.

Élisabeth Borne arrived in Marrakech last weekend. On Monday, she was seen walking on the Jemaa el-Fna square and the surrounding markets. The former French Prime Minister is currently staying in one of the riads belonging to relatives in the city of Marrakech, according to Kech24, adding that she moves between this riad and another located on the Ourika road. Movements that she makes in the ochre city without security measures, but with great freedom and spontaneity.

Élisabeth Borne is a lover of Marrakech. In 2019, while Matignon had asked its ministers to "run the media to ensure the pedagogy of the pension reform" at the origin of numerous SNCF strike movements, the former Minister of Ecological and Solidarity Transition had gone to Marrakech where she had spent sunny holidays, reported Le Parisien. This trip had provoked strong reactions from the opposition. "In the midst of a social conflict, Élisabeth Borne flies to Marrakech, these people in addition to being harmful to our country, our workforce, are contemptuous, cynical, selfish, without empathy," had criticized Gérard Filoche, former PS representative on X. This time, she is staying there without the hat of a member of the government.

Élisabeth Borne will have spent only two years at Matignon. She is the second woman to hold the position of Prime Minister after Édith Cresson. After her forced resignation, she becomes a deputy from Calvados again.
