Morocco Plans 3,000 km Highway Network by 2030 World Cup

Morocco plans to reach 3000 km of highways by 2030, the year it will co-host the World Cup, alongside Spain and Portugal.
During his appearance on the second general-interest channel, 2M, Nizar Baraka, Minister of Equipment and Water, announced that the government has undertaken the construction of many road routes in accordance with the directives of King Mohammed VI. According to him, the ministry responsible for the transport sector wishes to reach 3,000 km of highways by 2030. A project to which he says he attaches great importance.
It emerges from Nizar Baraka’s intervention that the work on the road linking Rabat and Casablanca, which should pass near the large stadium in the Benslimane region, will be launched this year. As for the new highway between Marrakech and Fez, it should pass through Beni Mellal, over a length of approximately 180 km, specifies the minister, adding that this project aims to break the isolation of many provinces.
Nizar Baraka also assured that the expansion of the road network to connect all the provinces of the kingdom will continue, including the road between Taounate and Fez, as well as the roads connecting the cities of Marrakech and Kelâat Es-Sraghna, Marrakech and Safi, Khénifra and Oued Zem, and Chefchaouen and Tétouan. All these projects demonstrate Morocco’s commitment to modernizing the transport sector.
