French Minister’s Morocco Trip Sparks Controversy Amid Pension Crisis

While France is in the midst of a crisis over pension reform, Elisabeth Borne, the Minister of Ecological and Solidarity Transition, went to Morocco for "a few days with her family." A trip that is provoking a wave of reactions within the political class.
The minister’s office believes that there is "no mileage rule or ban on leaving the territory" for government members during the Christmas holidays. "She is fully reachable and mobilized," assures her office.
She went there, "on a regular flight and at her own expense" while the Head of State has given instructions that all ministers must be mobilized both in the field and in the media, reports francetvinfo.
According to the minister’s office, "Elisabeth Borne postponed her departure and shortened her stay to be in Paris this weekend. But still, some see it as a bad thing that she has decided not to comply with the directives left by the President. "It’s a bit shocking," said Claude Goasguen, deputy of the 14th constituency of Paris.
"This is not what the President of the Republic had asked for," the Republican Party (LR) MP continues. He thinks it’s a bit shocking to see such an important government minister "take a gilded vacation in Marrakech" while the country is in the midst of a strike.
