Former Croatian President Praises Marrakech in New Year Visit to Morocco

Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović, former President of the Republic of Croatia (2015-2020), expresses her delight in starting the new year in Marrakech.

"A wonderful and fruitful start to the new year in the magnificent Morocco," wrote Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović in the caption of photos she posted on Facebook about her stay in the kingdom. The former Croatian leader had pleasant moments in the ochre city. "Three weeks combining intense work and moments of relaxation in Marrakech and the sublime Atlas Mountains. A big thank you to my dear friend Khalil for his hospitality," she added.

Marrakech is considered a unique destination for global celebrities in various fields (sports, arts, politics). Last summer, many of them visited the ochre city. On June 15th, the city hosted football stars like Egyptian Mohamed Salah of Liverpool FC, to celebrate his 31st birthday. A few days later, Kylian Mbappé of PSG and Ousmane Dembélé, who became his teammate, Eduardo Camavinga (Real Madrid) and Dayot Upamecano (Bayern Munich) spent a few sunny days of rest there.

Before them, American Michael Jordan stayed in the ochre city. The basketball legend expressed his admiration for what he saw at the Dar El Bacha Confluence Museum. His compatriot Oprah Winfrey, the famous TV host and film producer, treated herself to two unforgettable vacation days in Marrakech.
