Five Suspects Jailed in Mysterious Death of 22-Year-Old in Agadir

After being placed in custody, the five suspects in the case of Amine Chariz, a 22-year-old man who died under mysterious circumstances in Agadir on February 8, have been transferred to the local prison in Ait Melloul.

On Friday, the elements of the judicial police of Agadir presented the suspects before the Attorney General of the Court of Appeal of Agadir, at the end of the period of custody and its extension period to which they were subjected as part of the investigations and inquiries opened, in order to elucidate this case. The competent judicial authorities have already obtained the medical autopsy report and the results of the preliminary investigations launched by the judicial police services, including the hearing of witness statements. The investigating judge of the same court will therefore have to continue the detailed investigation with the accused.

According to sources, "two of the defendants are being prosecuted for premeditated murder, while the other three are being prosecuted for participation," reports Hespress. Three other individuals were also presented before the Attorney General of the King in a state of freedom without being subjected to custody measures, the same sources add.

It was on social networks that it was reported that a fight had broken out between young people in the evening of Saturday, February 5, in a restaurant in the Sonaba district of Agadir. Amine Chariz, a 22-year-old young man, was admitted to the emergency services of the Hassan II hospital. On Tuesday, his death was announced on Instagram by Internet users, but also by his family. According to the relatives and friends of the deceased, the Attorney General of the court of first instance of Agadir ordered the opening of an investigation to elucidate the death of the young man. Some Internet users mention a death by car accident (they say that Amine jumped out of the car himself), while others talk about a murder.
