Agadir Court Delays Trial in Amine Chariz Death Case, Orders Further Investigation

The Court of Appeal of the city of Agadir has decided to postpone the examination of the case of the accused in the case of Amine Chariz, a 22-year-old man who died on February 8, to March 10.

The postponement of the examination of the case of the accused is motivated by the search for new data in this case, reports Hespress. It is therefore planned that the data and phones of the accused will be examined for the purposes of the investigation. This decision by the Court of Appeal of the city of Agadir follows the transmission of the medical autopsy report carried out on the body of the deceased. The results show that Amine Chariz’s death was not natural, confirming the hypothesis of murder.

It was reported on social networks that a fight broke out between young people on the evening of Saturday, February 5, in a restaurant in the Sonaba district of Agadir. Amine Chariz was admitted to the emergency services of the Hassan II hospital. On February 8, his death was announced on Instagram by Internet users, as well as by his family. The public prosecutor near the court of first instance of Agadir had ordered the opening of an investigation to elucidate the young man’s death.

As a result, five individuals were arrested and then placed in custody. On Friday, February 11, the judicial police elements of Agadir presented the suspects before the Attorney General of the Court of Appeal of Agadir, who decided to keep them in detention in the local prison of Aït Melloul.
