FIFA Fines Morocco $30,000 for World Cup Qualifier Misconduct

Several African national teams, including Morocco, have been sanctioned following the playoff matches for the 2022 World Cup. The kingdom will have to pay a fine of 300,000 dirhams for the incidents during the return leg of this phase in Rabat.
The disciplinary committee imposed this sanction on Morocco, due to the "throwing of projectiles, use of fireworks and blocked stairs" in the return leg, explains FIFA, specifying that it is part of the zero tolerance policy towards discrimination and violence in football. The DRC, on the other hand, is fined more heavily (125,000 Swiss francs) for more serious incidents that occurred during the match against the Atlas Lions in Kinshasa.
Among the sanctions imposed, there is the one concerning Senegal following the hostile attitude of the public during the return match against Egypt at the Abdoulaye Wade Stadium. The country is subject to a match behind closed doors and a fine of 175,000 Swiss francs.
FIFA mentions the "non-application of existing safety rules and lack of maintenance of order in the stadium, invasion of the field, throwing of projectiles, lighting of fireworks, use of laser pointers and use of objects intended to convey an inappropriate message to a sporting event (offensive banner)."
Egypt, for its part, is fined 6,000 Swiss francs due to the behavior of its players in the first leg. The same sanction against Algeria, which will also have to pay 3,000 Swiss francs in fines due to the behavior of its supporters in Blida against Cameroon ("throwing of projectiles and use of fireworks").
