Morocco’s Amallah: Team Ready for World Cup Challenge Despite AFCON Setback

Moroccan international Selim Amallah, who plays for Standard Liège, reacted to Morocco’s qualification for the World Cup, and to the group that the Atlas Lions inherited after the draw.
Speaking on "Radio Voltaire", the 25-year-old midfielder reflected on Morocco’s poor performances at the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon, stressing that lessons have been learned by all the players and the technical staff.
In this regard, Amallah believes that the Moroccan team is ready to take on the challenge in Qatar. "Our team is ready for the World Cup, it was already ready during the Africa Cup of Nations, even if people said there were no stars in this team, but we have shown that we are capable of doing great things. I think this elimination during the CAN has also forged us, made us mature to be ready for the World Cup," he said.
Regarding Morocco’s group at the World Cup, which includes Belgium, Croatia and Canada, the player stated: "These teams do not scare us".
"We know they are great teams, but we are also a great team, because we have shown that we have talent in our squad and we are not going to be afraid to play these matches. I know my teammates, we all want to be in Qatar and show what we are capable of," he explained.
