FIFA Chief Visits Morocco Ahead of Key African Football Election

The FIFA President arrived in Morocco on Wednesday. During this working visit, Gianni Infantino will meet with Fouzi Lekjaa, President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, and other Moroccan sports officials to discuss the preparations for the General Assembly of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
At this elective General Assembly, scheduled for March 12 in Rabat, the successor to Ahmad Ahmad at the head of the Confederation of African Football will be known. Before Morocco, the FIFA President visited several African countries, namely Mauritania, Congo, Sudan, and Rwanda.
While he was expected in Algeria, Gianni Infantino preferred to decline the personal invitation of the President of the Algerian Football Federation (FAF), Kheireddin Zetchi.
This visit by the head of world football is part of the strengthening of relations between FIFA and the FRMF officials. It also aims to develop cooperation between the two bodies in terms of promoting national and continental football.
