FIFA Chief Visits Morocco, Fueling 2030 World Cup Bid Speculation

During his working visit to Morocco, Gianni Infantino met with Fouzi Lekjaa, the President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, as well as with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nasser Bourita, and the Minister of Youth and Sports, Othman El Ferdaous. This two-day official visit is reviving the relationship between Morocco and FIFA and relaunching Morocco’s project to host the 2030 World Cup.
The visit of the FIFA President to Morocco is of paramount importance for the Kingdom, which expresses the wish to host the 2030 World Cup with Spain and Portugal. According to the daily Assabah, Ministers Nasser Bourita and Othman El Ferdaous have certainly discussed the subject during their meeting with Gianni Infantino.
The FIFA President also met with Fouzi Lekjaa on the evolution of Moroccan football, as well as on the preparation of the 43rd Ordinary and Elective General Assembly of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), which will take place on March 12 in Rabat, to designate the successor to the current president Ahmad Ahmad. Gianni Infantino congratulated Morocco on the establishment of the Mohammed VI Football Complex, noting that this center, one of the best in the world, is a true "work of art".
He indicated that its construction demonstrates the seriousness of Morocco and Moroccans in the development of football. "Without the commitment of King Mohammed VI and the serious work carried out by the Royal Moroccan Football Federation as well as the commitment of the Moroccan government, we would not have been able to see the infrastructure available to Morocco in the different cities," Infantino said at the end of his working visit to the Kingdom.
