Moroccan Football Chief Fouzi Lekjaa Emerges as Potential FIFA Presidential Candidate

Less than two years before the departure of Swiss Gianni Infantino from the presidency of the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), Fouzi Lekjâa, president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), could well succeed him. According to his supporters, he would have the best profile to lead the world football body and at the same time defend the interests of African countries.
In this position, Fouzi Lekjâa would be the first African president of FIFA. A dream that could well come true, according to the FIFA president who is also encouraging the Moroccan to take on this challenge. During his visit to Morocco as part of the preparations for the CAF Elective General Assembly, he had discussed this issue with his host, reports Assabah.
For Gianni Infantino, the president of the FRMF will be a very good representative for Africa, as he is capable of this function. Even if the task seems difficult, the FIFA president believes that it is time to offer this opportunity to African leaders who have lacked ambition in the past. Fouzi Lekjâa could claim this position if he manages to obtain a seat on the Executive Council on March 12, recalls the same daily.
With the current president nearing the end of his term, the way is therefore open for the Moroccan official to take over the leadership of world football very soon.
