FIFA Approves Defender Julien Mesbahi’s Switch from Netherlands to Morocco

FIFA validated on March 18 the change of sports nationality of Julien Mesbahi, a promising young defender from FC Twente. The 19-year-old player, who had previously played with the youth selections of the Netherlands, will now wear the colors of Morocco.
Mesbahi, born to a Moroccan father and a Dutch mother, had the choice between the two countries. His decision, carefully considered, was formalized after he informed the Dutch Federation of his intention to represent Morocco at the international level.
The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) should therefore be pleased with the arrival of this young talent, who will come to strengthen the ranks of the national under-20 selection. The administrative procedures, which were underway, have been successful, and the change is officially validated by the authorities.
The coach of the Atlas Cubs, Mohamed Ouahbi, is counting on Mesbahi’s qualities to consolidate the defense of his team. The objective is clear: to quickly integrate the player and allow him to thrive, with a possible rise to the Olympic team, or even the A team in the long term.
Considered a hope of Dutch football, Julien Mesbahi has already proven himself in club. FC Twente has placed its trust in him by integrating him into the first team at the start of the season, a sign of his potential. Julien Mesbahi’s international future will now be written in green and red.
