Fez City Council Fined After Child Injured in Stray Dog Attack

The administrative court of Fez has ordered the city council to pay, as compensation, a fine of 25,000 dirhams to a child bitten by a stray dog in 2023.

The child, named Amine, was bitten by a stray dog on December 8, 2023, while playing near his home. Taken to the regional hospital in critical condition, he was saved thanks to the quick intervention of the medical team. The minor got away with a 10-day disability.

Holding the Fez city council responsible for the serious bodily harm suffered by his son, the victim’s father decided to file a complaint against it before the administrative chamber of the court of first instance of the city, which in January condemned the Council to pay a fine of 25,000 dirhams to the minor.

Last October, the court of first instance of Casablanca had also condemned the municipality to pay a fine of 50,000 dirhams to a citizen who had been attacked at the end of 2023 by a pack of stray dogs in the Lissasfa district while going to work.

After being rescued by a security guard present on the spot, the victim had filed a complaint against the municipality, the prefecture of the region and the Local Development Company Casa-Environnement.
