Fez Aims to Rival Marrakech as Morocco’s Top Tourist Destination

Supplant Marrakech. The vision developed by Fez through the authorities and specialists in charge of bringing it back to tourist expansion. At present, six years after a state investment of more than one billion dirhams, the repair of more than twenty monuments and the renovation of more than 4,000 ancient buildings have taken place, before in April 2019, King Mohammed VI inaugurated a second decisive phase of the work.

On the other hand, the city’s airport has been expanded, with cheap multi-zone air traffic contributing to a considerable increase in the number of passengers and hotel visits.

The challenge remains to modernize crafts, in all areas, and to improve the social conditions of those who practice them. Embellished Fez has what it takes to hold its own against Marrakech.
