Fès: psychiatrist accused of sexually exploiting patients, new developments in case
The court has postponed to May 21 the appellate review of the case involving a psychiatrist from Fès. The practitioner is accused of sexually exploiting his patients and encouraging them to consume hard drugs.
The criminal appellate chamber of Fès decided this Thursday to postpone the first hearing in this case. The magistrates set the date of May 21 for the resumption of proceedings. This postponement should allow the public prosecutor’s office to officially summon the lawyers as well as the various complainants mentioned in the investigation reports.

This case involves a specialist doctor in mental disorders, prosecuted for healing methods resembling charlatanism, human trafficking and facilitating heroin use on vulnerable women.
In first instance at the beginning of March, the main defendant received a heavy sentence of twenty years imprisonment accompanied by a fine of 200,000 dirhams. His accomplices were also sanctioned by the court. A photographer and the doctor’s carpenter cousin were respectively sentenced to six and five years imprisonment.

The network also involved a retired nurse, a university psychology professor, as well as a Belgian citizen who owned a riad and his employee, all sentenced to prison terms ranging from six months to one year accompanied by fines.
