Ferry Service Resumes Between Spain and Morocco After Two-Year Hiatus

The shipping company Trasmediterránea is resuming this Saturday the passenger and vehicle traffic between Almeria and Nador, suspended for more than two years due to the closure of maritime borders by Morocco.
The ferry J. J. Sister of the company will depart this Saturday at 3:00 pm from the port of Almeria to Nador and will return on Sunday. Passengers and tourist vehicles are allowed to board this ship, reports Diario de Almeria, specifying that over the past two years when the border with Morocco was closed, Trasmediterránea had continued to provide freight transport to Nador from Almeria.

Thus, the maritime passenger traffic with Nador by Trasmediterránea will be restored to one hundred percent, as is already the case with Baleària, which has resumed its connections with the Moroccan port since the reopening of maritime borders in mid-April.
In 2019, more than 50% of the 950,000 passengers who transited through the port of Almería were departing or arriving from Nador, a total of 507,620 people. In 2021, 70,509 travelers transited through the Almería maritime station, of which more than 17,600 between Almería and Nador, or 25% of the total number of travelers. Most of them were truck drivers since only maritime freight traffic was allowed with Morocco.
