"Rusadir" is the new ferry of the shipping company Balearia that serves the route between the ports of Malaga and Melilla. It has been operating since Monday, April 3.
The ferry Rusadir arrived at the port of Malaga from the Polish city of Gdynia. It is a brand new ship equipped with an electric propulsion system powered by two engines that can alternate the consumption of fuel and gas. Its construction was completed in 2020 at the Norwegian shipyard Fosen, which then chartered it to Baleària for a period of seven months. This period could be extended by another six months with the launch of this line between Malaga and Melilla, reports Malaga Hoy.
187 meters long and with a gross tonnage of 43,130, the Rusadir has a capacity of 1,670 passengers and 650 vehicles with 2,600 linear meters of cargo. It has lounges and 261 cabins on board, as well as a restaurant and two cafeterias, a shop, a children’s area, facilities for passengers with reduced mobility, a cinema room, a prayer room. The ferry also offers Internet connection and the possibility to travel with pets.
The new ferry performs Baleària’s six weekly rotations between Malaga and Melilla, and also provides a connection on Saturdays with the port of Almería. The arrival of the Rusadir could also bring some changes to the departure and arrival times.
