Ferry Prices Soar: Spain-Morocco Route Among Europe's Most Expensive Crossings

Ferry crossings between Spain and Morocco are among the most expensive in Europe, according to the results of a price comparator.

According to a recent study by the price comparator Vivanoda, ferries to Turkey have the highest average prices in Europe. The analysis, based on 150,000 crossings, reveals an average cost of 149 euros per 100 kilometers traveled to this destination. An amount that far exceeds the European average.

The United Kingdom, Iceland and Morocco (112 euros) closely follow Turkey in this unenviable ranking. The average price of crossings to these destinations ranges between 120 and 130 euros per 100 kilometers traveled. Malta and Italy close the list of the most expensive countries, with an average cost of around 115 euros per 100 kilometers.

The maritime links between Greece and Turkey stand out as the most expensive in Europe. It is indeed necessary to spend an average of 201 euros per 100 kilometers traveled to cross the Aegean Sea.

Fortunately, more economical options exist for travelers in search of ferry crossings. The links between Germany and Latvia, as well as those between France and Spain, have the lowest prices on the continent, with an average cost of 9 euros per 100 kilometers traveled.

In terms of the number of crossings, Greece reigns supreme. The country accounts for 38.9% of ferry travel in Europe, far ahead of Italy (26.9%), Spain (9.3%), the United Kingdom (5%) and France (4.1%).
