Ferry Cancellations Disrupt Summer Travel Plans for Moroccan Diaspora in Europe

The shipping company GNV has canceled its routes to Morocco at the last minute, angering Moroccans in Europe who had chosen to return to Morocco by sea this summer as part of the Marhaba Operation.
GNV has canceled its Barcelona to Tangier and Nador routes, much to the dismay of Moroccans in Europe who wished to return to Morocco by sea as part of the Marhaba Operation. Less than a week before the departure date, the shipping company informed passengers by email of the cancellation of the crossings, even though some had purchased their tickets five or six months earlier.
These unexpected cancellations of the routes to Morocco have caused inconvenience to Moroccans Residing Abroad (MREs) who have seen their vacation plans in Morocco disrupted. By way of compensation, GNV has limited itself to offering customers a refund of the ticket price. A solution with no real impact, especially since this refund may take place within a month.
The affected MREs are asking the Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Moroccan Consulate in Barcelona to take measures to force GNV to pay them compensation for the damage suffered due to the sudden cancellation of the crossings.
