After the feat against Cameroon, Regragui calls for national unity
With the qualification in his pocket, the national coach let his pride burst out while keeping a cool head. After the historic victory against Cameroon (2-0), Walid Regragui saluted the fighting spirit of his men, responding to the critics by the proof on the field and reminding that the mission is not yet over.
It was an emotional but lucid Walid Regragui who presented himself to the press after the final whistle at the Moulay Abdellah stadium. Aware of having broken a glass ceiling that had resisted for decades, the coach first wanted to define the identity of his group.
"We are a family, even if some do not believe us or do not believe in us," he launched. A direct response to the skeptics, reminding that the main driving force of this team remains the love of the jersey: "We play for the homeland and for the supporters who want to see Morocco at the top."
The technician measured the weight of history. According to him, the Atlas Lions have offered the people forgotten emotions for too long. "36 years have passed without Moroccans seeing their national team at this level, and today they are living this joy with us," he stressed.
Yet, in the midst of the general euphoria, Regragui immediately took on his role as guardian of temperance. "We have not yet accomplished anything, and we must keep our feet on the ground," he hammered, refusing to see his team demobilize before the semifinals.
For the coach, this success is not a coincidence, but the fruit of "four years of work and cohesion". He stressed the importance of the trust placed in the group and the technical choices, often debated but today validated by the result.
Regragui finally launched a call for national unity, asking Moroccans to continue to believe in those who work for national football. The objective is clear: to continue to write history, not just to read it.
