Fatal Quarry Collapse in Morocco Claims Life, Injures Another

A 50-year-old man from the Azilal region lost his life following a collapse in a stone quarry in the commune of Ghiata Al Gharbia. An investigation has been opened to determine the causes and circumstances of the incident.
The victim had fractures to the shoulder and chest. His body was transferred to the morgue of Ibn Baja Hospital in Taza for the purposes of the autopsy. A second victim, aged 51, seriously injured in the left leg, is receiving appropriate care in the same hospital. The gendarmerie services of Oued Amlil in Taza have opened an investigation to shed light on this tragic accident.
This is the second incident of this kind recorded in the commune of Ghiata Al Gharbia in recent months, after the death of a municipal councilor aged around 40 as a result of a collapse in a quarry in which his brother had also lost his life a few years earlier for the same reasons.
