Trial Postponed for Driver in Deadly Azilal Bus Accident That Killed 10

The trial of the driver involved in the fatal accident in Azilal, which cost the lives of 10 people, has been postponed to April 4. The court of first instance in Azilal made the decision on Monday, granting the request of the defense lawyers.
The accident occurred on a road connecting Ait Bou Oulli to Ait Bouguemez, in the province of Azilal. According to the investigations carried out by the Royal Gendarmerie under the supervision of the public prosecutor’s office, the driver would have committed an "unintentional fault". The latter would have got out of his vehicle to help stranded tourists without taking the necessary precautions.
The lawyer for the accused told "Alyaoum24" that the postponement of the trial will allow the civil parties to formulate their requests and prepare the defense.
On March 17, a terrible road accident had occurred on regional road No. 302, near Azilal, killing 10 people and injuring about a dozen, some seriously. The conclusions of the investigation conducted by the gendarmerie have not yet been made public.
