Far-Right Pundit Zemmour Urges Muslim Immigrants to Adopt French Names
On CNews, on Monday, February 10, Éric Zemmour faced Marlène Schiappa, Secretary of State for Gender Equality, to debate the issue of cultural assimilation of foreigners. On this occasion, the polemicist again attacked Muslims.
While Marlène Schiappa, Secretary of State for Gender Equality, advocates a French society impermeable to any discrimination, Éric Zemmour argues that it is an obligation for any foreigner arriving in France to adapt and appropriate French culture.
"You say that the name Mohamed is discriminatory, but the parents should have called them François!", blurts out the polemicist. To support his argument, he emphasizes that France is a country with a history and a culture.
"People who come from abroad must integrate, and it is not by calling themselves Mohamed or by putting a veil on the head of their wife that they will succeed. It is not up to the French to adapt to French culture, but rather to foreigners, if they want to integrate," he argued.
For her part, Marlène Schiappa stated that only 10% of children born in France are from immigrant couples. Theoretically, "there will not be one people replaced by another," noted the Secretary of State for Gender Equality.
