France Proposes Deportation for Foreign Nationals Convicted of Sexual Violence

If the provision were to be implemented, foreign citizens convicted of sexual or gender-based violence will henceforth be expelled from French territory. This is one of the immigration measures mentioned by Prime Minister Edouard Philippe during the interministerial committee.
After the Senate adopted a bill on violence against women, Edouard Philippe listed a series of immigration measures, including the expulsion of foreign citizens convicted of sexual or gender-based violence.
This proposal by the French Prime Minister has delighted Marlène Schiappa, Secretary of State for Gender Equality, a defender of this provision. "These acts of violence are unacceptable in any case, including when they occur in disadvantaged populations," she said in an interview with Marianne.
"I don’t see who could honestly tell us that a foreign citizen who has raped a woman can stay on the territory without causing a problem!" she suggested. According to her, the French government intends to promote "zero tolerance for acts of violence against women".
"The entry into force of the announced measures on immigration policy is planned for as soon as possible," said Marlène Schiappa.
