Family Mourns 25-Year-Old Shot Dead in Vénissieux Fast Food Parking Lot

A week after the tragic death of Fahd, shot dead in the parking lot of a fast food restaurant in Vénissieux, his family and friends gathered to pay him a final tribute. On the football field where he spent his youth, they wanted to honor his memory and ensure that his name is not reduced to a simple news item.
On January 6, the young man of Moroccan origin’s life took a tragic turn. While he was with a friend in the KFC parking lot in Vénissieux, an altercation broke out with an individual in a vehicle. Suddenly, a second individual got out of the car, gun in hand, and fired several shots at the two young men. Fahd, 25, succumbed to his injuries, while his friend was wounded.
Two weeks after the tragedy, his older sister confides to BFM DICI that she is still in shock. "It’s incomprehensible, it’s an unthinkable act," she testifies, describing a "fractured, destroyed" family. "He had life ahead of him, he had projects," she adds emotionally.
"He was really a golden kid," recalls Sofiane, his former coach, visibly touched by the brutal disappearance of the young man. "Half of my team are the players who were with him when I coached them," he continues, testifying to the emotion prevailing within the club. The municipality of Saint-Fons also expressed its support for the family.
The investigation, led by the Lyon prosecutor’s office, continues for "murder in an organized gang and attempted murder in an organized gang." Pending justice being done, Fahd’s family hopes to be able to repatriate his body to Morocco for burial.
