Excelsior’s Driouech Sidelined for Weeks with Hamstring Tear, Club’s Relegation Fight Impacted

Couhaib Driouech, the Dutch-Moroccan player of Excelsior Rotterdam, will be absent from the field for a long period due to a hamstring tear.
End of season for Couhaib Driouech? The left winger of Excelsior will be out for six to eight weeks due to a hamstring injury sustained on Tuesday during the match against PSV (0-2). "Couhaib has undergone an MRI and the result is not good. It’s simply disastrous," said Excelsior coach Marinus Dijkhuizen.
The coach had hoped that his top striker would recover quickly to continue the season and especially help the club avoid relegation. Excelsior is currently 16th in the Eredivisie, behind RKC Waalwijk, 15th, who are only two points ahead. But with this hamstring tear of Couhaib Driouech, Excelsior will have to play the remaining six league matches without its star.
However, if his recovery progresses as planned, the Dutch-Moroccan winger will be able to participate in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games with the Moroccan under-23 team. Driouech has always dreamed of taking part in this tournament.
