Moroccan-Dutch Striker Driouech Faces Pressure from Netherlands Despite Commitment to Atlas Lions

While the Excelsior Rotterdam striker, Couhaib Driouech, is playing with the Atlas Lions, he is under pressure from the Dutch football federation to abandon Morocco, the country of his father, for the Netherlands.
Couhaib Driouech is under strong pressure from the Dutch football federation. "The Netherlands is putting pressure on my son to be part of their team, but our position is firm," the father of the Excelsior Rotterdam striker told Alaraby. He assures that Couhaib is not about to turn his back on Morocco for the Netherlands. His decision to play for the Moroccan team is irreversible. "The Dutch Federation must take into account my son’s choice, because he is Moroccan and we support him," he added.
His first call-up with Morocco dates back to March 2023. He had played a friendly match against the Ivory Coast Olympic team in Rabat. That same year, Driouech won the U23 AFCON with the Atlas Lions. The Dutch-Moroccan player should participate in the Olympics to be held from July 26 to August 11, 2024 in Paris, France. With SBV Excelsior in the Eredivisie, he is having a good season. The 21-year-old player has scored 4 goals and provided 5 assists in 23 matches played.
