Video Evidence Shows Moroccan Agents Crossed into Spain During Melilla Border Incident

The video recordings of the assault on Melilla, sent by the Minister of the Interior to Congress, show that Moroccan agents chased migrants across the border, onto Spanish territory.
In these images of more than 6 and a half hours viewed on Friday, the members of the Interior Commission in Congress were able to see "very clearly" how Moroccan agents crossed the border in Melilla on June 24 and carried out hot returns of migrants on Spanish territory. This reality contrasts with the version of the Minister of the Interior, Fernando Grande Marlaska, on this tragedy that left at least 23 dead. Marlaska, who will appear again before parliament on November 30 to explain these events, had assured that no Moroccan agent had entered Spanish territory, recalls Diario de Léon.
The 63 recordings made by a drone show about ten Moroccan agents crossing the fence and, with the help of Civil Guard and CNP agents in the region, carrying out hot returns of migrants to Morocco. The images show the passivity of the Moroccan agents for more than half an hour, until the moment when the migrants managed to blow up the gate with mallets. The deputies also discover that "the vast majority" of migrants died on the Spanish side of the border. Yet "no tragic event occurred on Spanish territory," the Interior Minister had insisted.
The proof that migrants died on Spanish territory on June 24 would give the Spanish judicial system the power to investigate this tragedy. After viewing these images, the Popular Party (PP) deputy Ana Vázquez called for the resignation of the Interior Minister for "lying." "The main events took place on Spanish territory. Both the avalanche and the subsequent events," denounced for his part, the deputy Jon Iñarritu, from Bildu.
