Essaouira Airport Sees 92% Drop in Passengers Amid COVID-19 Travel Restrictions

Passenger traffic at Essaouira - Mogador airport recorded a 92.15% drop in the first half of 2021, compared to the same period in 2019.
The number of passengers who transited through Essaouira - Mogador International Airport stood at 3,030 compared to 38,579 passengers for the same period in 2020 and 52,548 (-94.23%) during the first six months of 2019, according to a press release from the National Airports Office (ONDA).
This drop is explained by the repercussions of the health crisis caused by the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic and the suspension of air traffic for several months.
For the month of June alone, the number of passengers who used the airport in the City of the Trade Winds was 410 travelers compared to 6,935 during the same month of 2019, a decrease of 94.09%, the same source specifies.
