Luxury Car Thefts Surge 17% in Spain, New Criminal Tactics Emerge
Thefts of luxury cars in Spain during the summer season increased by 17% this year. Criminals use several methods to commit their crimes.
These types of thefts have become frequent on the peninsula. The Civil Guard has discovered several "modus operandi" of these thieves who pretend to be broken down or to help the victims or to hack the vehicles. In 2022, a total of 30,982 vehicle thefts took place in Spain, according to data from the Ministry of the Interior, an increase of 17.3% compared to the previous year. In detail, these thefts increased by 20.4% in Catalonia and by 46.3% in the Balearic Islands during the year 2022, reports El Cierre Digital.
