Enty Baghia Wahed": DJ Van condemned to pay his share of the 2 million dirhams in revenue

The global success of "Enty Baghia Wahed" has generated nearly two million dirhams on the web, an amount so far captured solely by DJ Van. The Court of Appeal of Marrakech has just restored the rights of the lyricist and composer, putting an end to the exclusivity of the gains for the distributor.

The decision rendered this Thursday is based on a precise financial expertise. The judges validated the figures: the exploitation of the title on platforms like YouTube and Spotify has produced significant revenues that Khalil Belkas, alias DJ Van, has collected alone.

The court ruled in favor of Samir Al Moujari and Mohamed Rifai, considering that the lyricist and composer were unfairly excluded from the financial distribution of this global hit.

The plaintiffs’ lawyer emphasizes the legal scope of the verdict. Beyond the financial compensation, the judgment confirms that artistic creation constitutes a national wealth protected by Law 2.00 on copyright.

This interpretation is in line with the desire to secure the status of creators in Morocco, recalling that the commercial success of a work imposes legal obligations towards all its authors.
