Elderly Woman Dies After Home Demolition in Taounate, Morocco

A woman in her sixties died last Monday in Taounate, after her house was demolished by the security forces, in accordance with the instructions of the local authorities.
The population of Taounate is in shock after the tragedy that occurred on Monday. The public force proceeded to demolish the dwelling of a sexagenarian. In a video that went viral on social networks, we see the owner begging the agents who came to demolish her small house. But to no avail. Her house was demolished.
Overwhelmed by the events, she has a hysterical crisis, then dies during her evacuation to the nearest hospital, reports Hespress. On their arrival, they found that the lady "was already dead". A judicial investigation is underway to determine the real circumstances of this tragedy. According to an official source, the owner of the house was "in illegality", and consequently, there was no use of violence against her.
This tragedy has provoked reactions from Internet users. Why did the local authorities "let it happen", knowing that any construction in an urban area requires prior authorization?, wonders an Internet user. "At the bottom of the hierarchy, if the simple moqqadem (auxiliary agent) had done his job properly, Taounate would have avoided the loss of a human life in this sacred month of Ramadan," another Internet user indignantly.
