Elderly Couple Arrested at Spanish Port with 600kg of Moroccan Hashish in Motorhome

The Guardia Civil seized over 600 kilos of Moroccan hashish transported in a motorhome attempting to enter Algeciras at the port of Ceuta.
The agents discovered this significant quantity of drugs after a thorough inspection of the vehicle whose driver, a 70-year-old man, as well as the 49-year-old female passenger, both Spanish nationals, aroused their suspicions with their "evasive" answers.
The inspection of the Ford-Benimar vehicle, with Spanish registration, took place in the pre-boarding area of the port of Ceuta, dedicated to vehicles bound for Algeciras, reports La Razon.
The drugs were hidden in a compartment at the back of the vehicle and under the bed. In total, the civil guards seized 637.16 kilos of hashish. The drugs and the motorhome were placed at the disposal of the competent judicial authority.
As for the two suspects residing in the province of Cadiz, they will be brought before the courts as alleged perpetrators of a crime against public health. In recent months, Spain has strengthened its controls at El Tarajal, on the border with Morocco, and in the city of Ceuta.
