Egyptian Man Assaulted on Flight to Bucharest After Luggage Dispute

Monday 22 July 2019, by Sylvanus

The victim is the husband of a Moroccan woman. He suffered the incident on board a flight to Bucharest, said Abdullah Mubasher, Head of the Egyptian community living in Romania.

According to the facts, one of the flight attendants would have asked the Egyptian’s wife to put in a luggage compartment a bag she had left next to her, on a seat near the emergency exit. But she did not comply because she feared being separated from its contents: personal items and those of her family. Faced with this refusal, the flight attendant offered the passenger to change seats. She refused again.
The police did not take long to use force. The two passengers were assaulted in the presence of their children. Very quickly, panic spread in the plane.

According to Abdullah Mubasher, an investigation has been launched to clarify this absurd situation. For their part, the Egyptian Ministry of Immigration and Expatriates, as well as the Moroccan and Egyptian embassies, are looking into the matter.
