EasyJet Flight Diverted After Drunk Passenger’s Disruptive Behavior

An EasyJet flight from Agadir to Glasgow, Scotland, experienced an unusual disruption on Tuesday, December 10. The aircraft, which had taken off at 8:27 pm from Agadir-Al Massira airport, was forced to divert to Faro, Portugal, a little more than an hour after its departure. The reason? The inappropriate behavior of a passenger.
According to the testimony of a vacationer relayed on social networks, the man in question was "drunk" and showed an "aggressive" attitude towards the cabin crew. The witness adds a rather surprising detail: "He was also spitting." Despite several warnings from the crew, his behavior did not improve. The man reportedly said he had stayed in Marrakech, got into a fight and lost his phone.
The intervention of the authorities in Faro made it possible to disembark the disruptive passenger and restore calm on board. The plane was finally able to resume its journey to its initial destination, landing in Glasgow at 12:54 am, with a minimal delay of only three minutes on the scheduled timetable.
In response to this incident, an EasyJet spokesperson provided clarification. He confirmed the course of events, stating that flight EZY3176 had been diverted to Faro due to the behavior of a passenger. He also emphasized the training of the company’s staff: "EasyJet’s cabin crew are trained to assess and manage all situations quickly and appropriately to ensure that the safety of the flight and other passengers is not compromised at any time."
The airline also affirmed its zero-tolerance policy towards disruptive behavior on board aircraft: "Although such incidents are rare, we take them very seriously and have no tolerance for disruptive behavior on board. The safety and well-being of our customers and our crew are always EasyJet’s top priority."
