EasyJet Faces Backlash Over Controversial Morocco Map in Ad Brochure

Lahcen Haddad, former Moroccan Minister of Tourism, strongly reacted to the publication of an EasyJet advertising brochure presenting a map of Morocco amputated of the Sahara. The controversial image, which is circulating on social media, has outraged many Moroccans.
On his X (formerly Twitter) account, Mr. Haddad, also fourth vice-president of the House of Advisors, issued an ultimatum to EasyJet: "The correct map of Morocco with its Sahara must be corrected and restored; otherwise, as a parliamentarian, I will ask the Moroccan authorities to suspend all relations with this airline."
"Given the profits EasyJet derives from Moroccan tourism, this error is unacceptable," protested a tourism operator. Some industry professionals have called for the intervention of Adel El Fakir, Director General of the National Airports Office, to demand that EasyJet publish a complete map of Morocco.
