EasyJet to Close Toulouse Base, Threatening Morocco Flight Routes

The announcement by the British airline Easyjet of the closure of its base at Toulouse airport could lead to the end of several flights to Morocco.
Several flights to Morocco are threatened with the upcoming closure of its base at Toulouse airport, the airline serving Fez, Casablanca or Marrakech.
Easyjet also intends to launch a voluntary departure plan that would affect about thirty employees in France. "The proposal to close the Toulouse base is due to a combination of factors, including a slower post-Covid recovery and inflationary pressure" which affects "Easyjet’s ability to invest further in France," the British carrier explained in a statement, noting that staff representative bodies have already been informed.
From its base at Toulouse airport, two of Easyjet’s aircraft operate 20 destinations. The company "is committed" however to continue "to serve Toulouse as a destination and to offer flights to Toulouse". Very concretely, it plans "the transfer of an aircraft from Roissy to Orly and a limited voluntary departure plan for cabin crew from three of the company’s French bases", with a target of about thirty employees out of a current workforce of one thousand eight hundred. "Our proposal does not provide for any forced departures," assured Easyjet’s director for France, Bertrand Godinot.
Easyjet has no intention of leaving France. It "wishes to continue to develop in France and plans in particular a capacity growth of more than 5% this winter," said the same source.
