Dutch-Moroccan Rapper Ali B to Stand Trial for Multiple Rape Allegations

The Dutch singer of Moroccan origin, Ali B, will be tried on June 12 and 13 at the Haarlem court for serious accusations that had excluded him from the media landscape in the Netherlands.
The rapper is accused of two cases of rape, one that occurred in Heiloo in August 2018 and the other in Morocco in April 2014, involving singer Ellen ten Damme. Although Ten Damme reported the incident, no formal complaint was filed.
In addition to these accusations, another alleged assault in May 2018 in Amsterdam is linked to the The Voice of Holland (TVOH) competition. However, a complaint against Ali B regarding a fourth victim was dropped for lack of evidence. Meanwhile, the TVOH show is the subject of a broader investigation since April 2022, following revelations about inappropriate behavior by several of its key figures.
Among the accused in the TVOH case are the former judge Marco Borsato, prosecuted for indecent acts towards a minor, as well as Jeroen Rietbergen, against whom a complaint for rape has been filed.
As for the Moroccan, he expresses relief at the setting of a trial date, stating through his lawyer the absence of a link between the accusations and TVOH.
