Drug Trafficker Sentenced After Skipping Community Service for Morocco Vacation

A drug trafficker, arrested on Tuesday, September 17, in possession of drugs and for speeding, was sentenced to four months in prison in Vannes.

The Vannes Court was faced with a particular case on Tuesday, September 17. A repeat offender, the defendant had already been convicted of drug possession to carry out 70 hours of community service. This sentence was not fully completed by the defendant, who had preferred to spend his vacation in Morocco.

Despite the pleadings of his counsel, Corentine Riffaud, who had asked for a second chance for him, the judges opposed a dismissal. According to his lawyer, his client would be welcomed by his older brother, far from Vannes to find a decent job, thanks to his diplomas. The judges also believe that his detention will put an end to what he is really hiding, that is to say, participation in a traffic.

The defendant was therefore sentenced to eight months in prison, half of which were suspended and placed on probation for two years. In addition, his driver’s license was suspended for a period of six months, and a fine of 500 euros for speeding. Having refused to communicate the code of his telephone which probably serves him for this traffic - an offense - it was confiscated from him.

On Friday, September 13, the 21-year-old from Vannes was arrested while driving at 174 km/h at the entrance to Vannes, on the RN 166 (where the speed limit is 110 km/h). In his vehicle where the smell of drugs prevailed, 200 grams of cannabis resin were found in the glove compartment, as well as 15 grams of cocaine hidden in a perfume bottle, for a value of 1,000 euros.

Before the judges, he could not defend himself to the fullest. He got lost in telling that the drugs were for his own consumption. However, his saliva test was negative, which proves that he is not being prosecuted for use but for possession of drugs. His sentence pronounced, the young trafficker was immediately sent back to prison.
