Drama in Torremolinos: a 31-year-old Moroccan woman killed by a falling tree

A 31-year-old Moroccan national lost her life in Torremolinos on Tuesday, January 27, after being crushed by the fall of a palm tree. This tragic accident occurred due to the storm, with gusts exceeding 80 kilometers per hour in the province of Malaga.

The tragedy occurred shortly after 1 pm on Palma de Mallorca Avenue, near the city’s courts. Seriously injured in the chest and leg, the young woman immediately received first aid from a passer-by and a civil guard who witnessed the scene.

Despite intensive cardiopulmonary resuscitation efforts by the latter and the medical teams who arrived as reinforcements, the death was pronounced on the spot.

A judicial commission subsequently proceeded to remove the body for transfer to the Malaga Institute of Forensic Medicine, while the scientific police carried out the usual investigations.

The Torremolinos municipality expressed its condolences to the victim’s family, deploring a death directly related to the extreme weather conditions. This tragedy is part of a context of strong regional instability, as the Joseph storm has caused around sixty incidents across the province of Malaga.
