Dozens Dead as Migrant Boats Sink Off Moroccan and Mauritanian Coasts

Around fifty sub-Saharan migrants have perished in the sinking of two boats. The search continues to find any possible survivors.
A first boat sank off the coast of Nouadhibou in Mauritania, while the second one occurred off the coast of Dakhla, as they were both trying to reach the Canary Islands. Not knowing what else to do after several days of wandering, "the migrants on board would have jumped off the boat" to give themselves a chance to swim. But unfortunately "they ended up drowning", reports the MAP, which specifies that the death toll currently stands at 40.
As for the second boat, at least 10 deaths are deplored, the bodies of which were found by Moroccan fishermen and members of the royal navy. "Around ten other migrants, who were on board the boat, were able to be rescued". The Moroccan authorities continue to deploy their efforts to find the survivors or victims, indicates the same source.
